What is involved? - 1 Screening Visit (split into two parts), 3 treatment periods (consisting of 2 overnight stays per treatment period – Day -1 to Day 2 with doses separated by approximately 5-28 days in each period) and a post-study follow up visit approximately 5-7 days following the last dose of MDI-26478 on Day 1 of treatment period 3. Maximum inconvenience payment of £2850 Start Date: 6 Mehefin 2024 3 treatment visits Age Eligibility: 18-55 (years) Location: CUBRIC Up to 2850.00 Additional Info
CHDI study Healthy participants required – We are looking for participants with no history of neurological disorders or mental health diagnoses, to take part in an MRI study. Participants will be asked to attend 2 sessions. On each visit you will have an MRI scan of between 1-2 hours. The total amount of your time for the study will be 3 hours. Scan sessions will take place in the 3T Prisma scanner, with some time before and after for prep and debrief. In the MRI scanner, you will be able to relax and watch a movie, and payment on completion will be £51. This is a pilot study to prepare for a larger study with Huntington’s Disease patients. Start Date: 8 Gorffenaf 2024 3 hours Age Eligibility: 18+ (years) Location: CUBRIC £51 Additional Info
Interhemispheric Transfer Time Test-retest This 2 session online study aims to test the reliability of certain behavioural measures of the time if takes information to travel from one brain hemisphere to the other. The task requires quickly pressing buttons in response to seeing a white dot on the screen, and avoiding pressing anything when a black dot appears shortly after the white. Start Date: 14 Mai 2024 1.5-2 hours Age Eligibility: 16+ (years) Location: ONLINE 12 Additional Info
Microcode: Linking brain microstructure to conduction delays We’re looking for healthy volunteers aged 18–55 with no known neurological or significant medical conditions to take part in a MRI and MEG study at CUBRIC. The study aims to explore the relationship between MRI-measured brain microstructural properties (like myelination and axonal diameter) and conduction delays measured using magnetoencephalography (MEG). What does participation involve? The study is flexible and can be completed in one or two visits, depending on your preference. Here’s what to expect: 1)MEG Session (1 hour): Two tasks—one resting-state and one involving interhemispheric engagement (easy instructions provided). 2)Two Quick Questionnaires (5-10 minutes total). 3) MRI Sessions: Watch a film of your choice during: 1 hour 30 min in the 3T MRI scanner, and 45 min in the 7T MRI scanner (session to be scheduled separately in the upcoming month or so). Compensation: You’ll receive a £100 payment upon completing all of the study's sessions. PLEASE READ: As the 7T session is likely to take place separately from the other sessions, there may be a delay in processing your payment. Rest assured, the payment will be processed once all sessions are complete Start Date: 19 Tachwedd 2024 4 (including breaks) Age Eligibility: 18-55 (years) Location: CUBRIC 100 Additional Info
Multi-scale imaging approach to cortical pathology We are looking for healthy volunteers aged 18 years or older to take part in a research study to assess the range of normal variation seen with new high-resolution MRI scan sequences. This is part of a wider study looking to link MRI signals with the underlying cellular microstructure for patients with epilepsy. You will be asked to come to CUBRIC (Maindy Road, Cardiff) for two MRI scans, each on a different scanner. These will be performed on the same day, lasting up to a total of 2.5 hours scanning time with a break in between the different scans. You will receive £25 as a thank you for participating. Start Date: 2 Mai 2024 2.5 hours Age Eligibility: 18+ (years) Location: CUBRIC 25 Additional Info
Pilot of MRI imaging measures for brain barriers We are looking for a couple of participants to go into the MRI scanner at CUBRIC while we pilot imaging measures that will be used in the main study, an investigation into inflammation and brain barriers. The scan will take up to 75 minutes, and you will be able to watch a film for part of the scan Start Date: 27 Tachwedd 2024 75 minutes Age Eligibility: 18-65 (years) Location: CUBRIC 18.00 Additional Info
Test Retest Study We are seeking healthy volunteers, particularly aged 25 to 45, to participate in a study investigating the variability of a set of tasks using two neuro-imaging modalities: MEG and fMRI. The study involves researchers from Cardiff University, taking place at the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), over two visits. You will be asked to come to CUBRIC (Maindy Road, Cardiff) for two sessions (two days of testing), each lasting up to 4 hours—with 1-4 weeks in between each day. Each testing session will involve up to one hour of MEG scans, up to one hour of cognitive testing, and up to one hour of fMRI scans. Participants will receive £40 per session as a thank you for taking part. Start Date: 29 Mai 2024 2 visits, 4 hours each Age Eligibility: 18-55 (years) Location: CUBRIC 80 Additional Info
The effects of rhythmic drumming training We are recruiting adults aged 50+ with no history of brain injury or neurological conditions. You must also not play a musical instrument. The study will explore if drum training will have any effect(s) on movement and thinking abilities, and on the brain. We hope that in the future, this drumming training may be able to provide a remotely accessible training tool to help improve movement and thinking abilities for those who need it. If you decide to take part, you will attend Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) to have your first MRI brain scan and some tests of cognition and motor control. The brain scanning will take approximately 30 minutes and the cognitive and motor testing around 2-2.5 hours. You can take breaks between the cognitive tests, if needed. The attention tasks will be either paper and pencil tasks or will be performed on a computer. Depending on the group you are put into, you be asked to do one of the following things: 1) continue your day-to-day life as normal for 8 weeks, OR 2)engage in online drumming training using a tablet, which will be provided, for around 10 minutes, 5 days per week, for 8 weeks. Start Date: 18 Medi 2023 8 weeks Age Eligibility: 50+ (years) Location: CUBRIC 25-43 Additional Info
