Scientific sleepover vol. 2 is here!
We are currently looking for volunteers aged 18-45 to take part in a sleep study investigating the relationship between sleep, emotions and memory.
What does the study involve:
An overnight session including: Some questionnaires and a few behavioural computer tasks in the evening, An overnight stay at our sleep lab, A short questionnaire in the morning. A follow up session after roughly 48 hours from the start of the overnight session: Some questionnaires and completing some behavioural tasks in an MRI scanner . 2-week follow up session: Same as session 2 plus additional behavioural task outside the scanner, Debrief. Please keep in mind that this study involves collecting MRI, EEG and ECG monitoring, so only sign up if you are comfortable with that! You will receive up to £100 compensation for your help. Take part in an exciting sleep study investigating the influence of sleep on processing of emotional memories!
To take part in this study you will need to:
- We within our age range.
- Have a good sleep schedule.
- Not be diagnosed with any psychiatric or psychological conditions.
- Not be a habitual drug user.
- Be able to speak and understand spoken English.
- Have normal or corrected to normal eyesight (if you wear glasses, you might be required to wear contact lenses inside the MRI scanner).
- Be MRI safe.
- Have not participated in Scientific Sleepover before.
If you are eligible to take part in this study, you will be added to a mailing list and we will send available study dates to your e-mail address. Before you can partake in the overnight session, you will be asked to attend an allergy test, where we will apply some gels and pastes to your skin, to make sure you will not be uncomfortable during the overnight session. During this appointment you will also receive a smartwatch to monitor your sleeping habits and we will perform an MRI screening to make sure you are safe to undergo MRI scanning.
Please note that the study involves polysomnography (PSG), which involves placing electrodes on your head, chin, near your eyes and one on your back. There are safe and non-invasive, but you might find them uncomfortable.
Data Sharing
Data collected in this study will be de-identified and shared via an open data sharing platform.
